TENDER DESCRIPTION

The scope of services concerns extensive general refurbishment of two listed existing buildings (former hospitals) including planning and conversion into new administrative and laboratory rooms for the Max Planck Institute for Geoanthropology in Jena. On the plot 105 / Lessingstraße 1 there is the former urology department with a listed portion from 1914 and an extension from 1991. On the plot 102/5 / Lessingstraße 2 there is the former ENT (ear, nose and throat) department dating from 1928. The buildings are each 4-storey with an additional partially daylighting basement level as well as an undeveloped gable-storey. The buildings and the garden layout are subject to monument protection; therefore close coordination with the State Office for the Preservation of Monuments or with the lower monument protection authority is required. The institute building will consist primarily of office spaces and ancillary office areas. Seminar rooms are also planned, as well as a laboratory area with storage areas, server rooms and a Decision Theatre.
