The mechanically and biologically treated wastewater is discharged into the Sulm. Due to increasingly stringent discharge limits for the discharge of treated wastewater, the Neckarsulm wastewater treatment plant will be expanded by a treatment stage for the removal of trace substances (4th treatment stage). With the new treatment stage, selected trace substances can be removed by 80% and the total phosphorus concentration in the annual average of 0.2 mg/l can be met. By expanding the wastewater treatment plant by a 4th treatment stage, the water quality of the Sulm with regard to phosphorus and the input of trace substances is to be significantly improved. As a process, the Ulm process in the SBR reactor is being implemented for the first time.
