Construction of a 4th treatment stage and sewage works operations yard E&M/M&I engineering The Neckarsulm wastewater treatment plant has a design capacity of 200,000 PE and treats municipal and industrial wastewater. Mechanically and biologically treated wastewater is discharged into the Sulm. Due to increasingly stringent limit values for the discharge of treated wastewater, the Neckarsulm wastewater treatment plant is being expanded by an additional treatment stage for removal of trace substances (4th treatment stage). With the new treatment stage, selected trace substances can be removed by 80% and the total phosphorus concentration in the annual average of 0.2 mg/l can be met. By expanding the wastewater treatment plant with a 4th treatment stage, the water quality of the Sulm with regard to phosphorus and the input of trace substances is intended to be significantly improved. As a process, the “Ulm process” in the SBR reactor is being implemented for the first time.
