Construction of a 4th treatment stage and channel operations yard Sewage engineering equipment The Neckarsulm wastewater treatment plant has a design capacity of 200,000 population equivalents (PE) and treats municipal and industrial wastewater. The mechanically and biologically treated wastewater is discharged into the Sulm. Due to increasingly strict limit values for the discharge of treated wastewater, the Neckarsulm wastewater treatment plant is being expanded with an additional treatment stage for the removal of trace substances (4th treatment stage). With the new treatment stage, selected trace substances can be removed by 80%, and the total phosphorus concentration in the annual average of 0.2 mg/l can be met. By expanding the wastewater treatment plant with a 4th treatment stage, the water quality of the Sulm with regard to phosphorus and the input of trace substances is intended to be significantly improved.
