Construction of a 4th treatment stage and sewer operations yard (Kanalbetriebshof) Sewage treatment technical equipment The Neckarsulm wastewater treatment plant has a design capacity of 200,000 PE and treats municipal and industrial wastewater. The mechanically and biologically treated wastewater is discharged into the Sulm. Due to increasingly strict limits for the discharge of treated wastewater, the Neckarsulm wastewater treatment plant is being expanded by an additional treatment stage for the removal of trace substances (4th treatment stage). With the new treatment stage, selected trace substances can be removed by up to 80%, and the overall phosphorus concentration in the annual average can be maintained at 0.2 mg/l. By expanding the wastewater treatment plant with a 4th treatment stage, the water quality of the Sulm with regard to phosphorus and the input of trace substances is to be significantly improved. As a process, the Ulm process in the SBR reactor is implemented for the first time.
