TENDER DESCRIPTION

The municipality of Bietigheim operates large parts of its public drainage network in a combined system. During rainfall events, the resulting combined sewer overflows are discharged into the Schmiedbach via various combined sewer overflow structures. The Schmiedbach is part of the Federbach system, which is significantly burdened due to a large number of discharges from the adjacent municipalities. According to the current assessment under the Water Framework Directive (WRRL), the water system has significant deficiencies both with respect to chemical and ecological status. These are essentially attributable to discharges from wastewater facilities, in particular from the combined sewer systems of the municipalities located in the Federbach system. Against this background, existing discharge permits that are expiring or new discharge permits to be issued are currently not eligible for approval without the results of investigations into water ecology and FFH compliance that are to be carried out jointly by the neighboring municipalities.
