    TENDER DESCRIPTION

    The municipality of Bietigheim operates large parts of its public drainage network using a combined sewer system. During rainfall events, the resulting combined wastewater overflows are discharged into the Schmiedbach via various combined sewer overflow structures. The Schmiedbach is part of the Federbach system, which is significantly burdened due to a large number of discharges from the adjoining municipalities. After the most recent assessment under the Water Framework Directive (WRRL), the water system shows significant deficiencies both in terms of chemical status and ecological status. These are essentially due to discharges from wastewater facilities, in particular from the combined sewer systems of the municipalities located in the Federbach system. Against this background, currently, discharges permits that are due to expire or new discharge permits to be issued are not eligible for approval without the results of the investigations into water ecology and FFH compatibility to be carried out jointly by the neighbouring municipalities.
