TENDER DESCRIPTION

The subject matter of the procurement is oral healthcare services (a dentist-dental nurse pair and a dental hygienist) for 120 long-term patients at Ohkola Hospital (Ohkolantie 10, Kellokoski), for whom almost all have been diagnosed with a psychotic illness. A psychotic illness often includes impaired functional capacity, which may also be seen as insufficient ability to take care of one’s own oral hygiene. In addition, deficiencies in life management and functional capacity often involve, from the perspective of oral health, harmful eating habits and/or, for example, the use of nicotine products. The need for dental care is extensive, and previous dental care has often been left unimplemented over a long period of time. The patients’ period of treatment in the hospital is long-term; the average treatment period is several years.
