TENDER DESCRIPTION

The municipality of Vlaardingen intends to comprehensively reconstruct the public realm in Wilgendreef, Elzendreef, IJsselhoevedreef and part of Populierendreef as a result of structural subsidence due to the soft subsoil. The work starts with removing existing paving and excavating the subsoil, after which the area is raised with sand to approximately 0.30-0.70 metres in order to restore the desired level. Subsequently, the sewer system is renewed and adjusted, including the re-routing/transfer of house connections, and where possible rainwater is disconnected from the combined system and discharged to surface water along the project area. Next, new paving is installed and the public realm is redesigned, with the design being optimized on the basis of applicable municipal policy and input from residents. During execution, consultation takes place with utility companies and their work is facilitated where necessary. Finally, green spaces are restored and improved where possible, street furniture is installed, and handover takes place to the municipality’s management departments.
