IHK Akademie Schwaben Arbeit und Bildung GmbH is one of the major providers of continuing education for vocational education in Schwaben. Our task is to make people in the region ready for new technological, commercial, or social requirements in the labour market. To this end, we offer timely, practice-oriented, locally based and region-wide continuing education opportunities throughout Bayerisch-Schwaben. Our educational offerings help to expand and adapt the professional qualifications of skilled workers in the region. IHK Akademie operates the Campus Neu-Ulm training centre in a former officers’ casino built in 1937. In 2000, the existing building was extended to the east by an addition—comprising an intermediate building and new construction. Due to an upcoming roof refurbishment, an economic analysis was carried out with regard to refurbishing the entire building. The decision was made in favour of a comprehensive refurbishment on the basis of a refurbishment concept. The roof structure of the existing building will be completely dismantled and replaced with a full storey with a lean-to roof in timber-frame construction.
