TENDER DESCRIPTION

With the resolution on the federal budget 2026, the German Bundestag has made programme funds in the amount of EUR 150 million available for the renovation of women’s shelters. The funds are budgeted in the economic plan of the special fund for infrastructure and climate neutrality and are available to support multi-year capital investment projects. Funding periods (project durations) of up to three and a half years are envisaged. Many support and protective facilities for women affected by violence and their children face a considerable need for renovation due to their structural condition, increased requirements relating to security and accessibility as well as growing needs for child-appropriate accommodation. Sustainable structural renewal of these facilities is of central societal importance in order to ensure a safe, dignified and reliable place of protection for women affected by violence and their children. Reducing the existing backlog of renovation also serves the further implementation of the Istanbul Convention and helps to shape the facilities in a long-term and sustainable way so that they are fit for the future.
