TENDER DESCRIPTION

With the resolution on the Federal budget 2026, the German Bundestag has made programme funds in the amount of EUR 150 million available for the refurbishment of women’s shelters. The funds are budgeted in the business plan of the special fund “Infrastructure and Climate Neutrality” and are available to support multi-year investment projects. Approval periods (project durations) of up to three and a half years are envisaged. In view of their structural condition, increased requirements relating to security and accessibility, and growing needs for child-friendly accommodation, many support and protection facilities for women affected by violence and their children face a substantial need for refurbishment. Sustainable structural renewal of these facilities is of central societal importance in order to ensure that women affected by violence and their children have a secure, dignified and reliable space for protection. Reducing the existing backlog of refurbishment work also supports the further implementation of the Istanbul Convention and helps to shape the facilities to be viable for the future in the long term and sustainably.
