TENDER DESCRIPTION

The industrial bioeconomy offers enormous potential for sustainable growth by replacing fossil raw materials with renewable biological resources, achieving climate targets and strengthening competitiveness. In research and development of bioeconomy products and processes, Germany is well positioned. Previous funding measures by other federal ministries and by the federal states show that bioeconomy products and processes can be implemented at laboratory scale. However, there is a lack of broad implementation of bioeconomy products and processes at industrial scale. Therefore, to support the transformation of the economy into a sustainable, climate-neutral form of economic activity, the funding programme “Industrial Bioeconomy” was initiated, which started on 29 December 2020 with the entry into force of the “Guideline on promoting the use and construction of demonstration facilities for the industrial bioeconomy” of 16 December 2020 (BAnz AT 28.12.2020 B2).
