TENDER DESCRIPTION

The subject of the invitation to tender is the provision of medical services for the Health Office of the City of Essen as part of the second post-mortem examination in the case of cremations pursuant to Section 15 of the Act on Cemetery and Burial Matters (BestG NRW), as well as before the transport of a body or stillbirth to a foreign country pursuant to Section 16(5) of the BestG NRW. The Health Office, as a lower public health authority pursuant to Section 15(1) of the BestG NRW, is required to carry out a second post-mortem examination before each cremation. The purpose of carrying out a second post-mortem examination is to confirm that there is no suspicion of a non-natural death. Pursuant to Section 16(5) of the BestG NRW, before the transport of a body or stillbirth to a foreign country, a medical examination is also required to determine whether there are indications of a non-natural death. The second post-mortem examination takes place in the crematorium shortly before cremation. Further information can be found in the service description.
