TENDER DESCRIPTION

The subject of the invitation to tender is the provision of medical services for the Health Office of the City of Essen as part of the second post-mortem examination in the case of cremations pursuant to Section 15 of the Cemetery and Burial Act (BestG NRW) and prior to the transport of a corpse or stillbirth to a foreign country pursuant to Section 16(5) of the BestG NRW. Pursuant to Section 15(1) of the BestG NRW, the Health Office is required, as a subordinate health authority, to carry out a second post-mortem examination before each cremation. The purpose of conducting a second post-mortem examination is to confirm that there is no suspicion of an unnatural death. Pursuant to Section 16(5) of the BestG NRW, a medical examination is also required prior to the transport of a corpse or stillbirth to a foreign country, with the aim of determining whether there are indications of an unnatural death.
