TENDER DESCRIPTION

The Studierendenwerk Tübingen-Hohenheim, a public law institution, intends to build a new dormitory for students on the so-called sliding parking lot in the area of the campus grounds of the university town of Tübingen. The reason is to create urgently needed living space for students in immediate proximity to university facilities. The competition site is located in the Tübingen district "University" between listed institute buildings of the university in close proximity to the campus grounds, but also near existing residential buildings adjoining to the northwest. The urban integration of the new building into this context thus represents a central planning task. The university town of Tübingen has formulated binding framework conditions for this together with the Studierendenwerk. In addition to incorporating some existing building lines, a sensitive approach to the locally characteristic tree population is also required. An urban, architectural, and open space convincing design for a student dormitory is to be developed that meets the economic and functional requirements.
