TENDER DESCRIPTION

The resource sources available to the city of Málaga for its supply are currently deficient. In addition to the supply deficit problem, the poor quality of the supply water from current resources due to its high salinity must be added, which makes its treatment in the El Atabal desalination plant necessary. The DHCMA Hydrological Plan includes the construction of the Cerro Blanco Dam to increase the resources available by the year 2039. In section 4.1.4.5 of Annex VI of the Third Cycle Review (2021-2027) of the DHCMA Hydrological Plan, it states that, in subsystem I.3 there is a notable overexploitation of the groundwater bodies 060.038 Sierra de Mijas (shared with subsystem I.4), 060.039 Río Fuengirola, and 060.040 Marbella-Estepona. The water resource collected in the Cerro Blanco reservoir would help reduce this overexploitation. In addition, it substantially improves the guarantees for irrigation in the Guadalhorce Valley, by allowing a saving in the consumption of water coming from the reservoirs that provide it with the water resource.
