TENDER DESCRIPTION
For and on behalf of the City of Helsinki transport operator Helsinki City Transport (HKL) (“HKL” or “the Client”), Pääkaupunkiseudun Kaupunkiliikenne Oy (“KLOY” or “the Client’s representative”) organises a tender competition for the implementation of the Basic refurbishment of the Sörnäinen metro station project as a PJU, in accordance with this contract notice and its appendices. The Sörnäinen metro station is located in a densely built-up urban structure, at a significant transport junction, in Alppiharju, Helsinki, and it was completed in 1984. The metro station is a rock cavern station located under Vaasanpuistikko, Helsinginkatu and Torkkelinmäki, serving one of the most densely populated districts in Finland. The station’s customer facilities include the platform level, a ticket hall with commercial premises, and above-ground entrances. In 2025, the station had 33,700 daily users, making it the third most used station in the metro network. The project has been scheduled to be carried out at the same time as the renewal of the Junatien metro bridge, which will interrupt metro traffic between Kalasatama and Sörnäinen for an estimated period of seven (7) months.
