Project description: Since 2025, the district "Waldkolonie/Akazienweg" has been part of the federal-state program "Social Cohesion." This is an opportunity to improve the quality of living and housing in a disadvantaged district with funds from the federal government, the state of Hesse, and the city of Darmstadt. Social and urban development challenges can be addressed and the coexistence of the residents strengthened. In the coming years, targeted measures are to be implemented that make the living environment more attractive, improve the social infrastructure, and sustainably strengthen the district. At the beginning of 2026, two planning offices were commissioned to develop an Integrated Urban Development Concept – briefly ISEK. The work is carried out in coordination with the city of Darmstadt and through broad participation of the residents in the neighborhood. The completed ISEK is to be submitted to the city council for resolution by the end of 2026. It then forms the binding basis for the development of the next years.
