Performance description Survey of participation in gambling and potential gambling addiction 1. Subject of the research One of the five equally ranked objectives of the Interstate Treaty on Gambling (Glücksspielstaatsvertrag) is to prevent the development of gambling addiction and betting addiction and to create the conditions for effective addiction prevention (§ 1 GlüStV 2021). The measures under the Interstate Treaty are intended to prevent an increase and, in the long term, to further reduce the number of problem gamblers and pathological gamblers. In order to be able to continuously measure compliance with the requirements of the Interstate Treaty on Gambling, it is necessary to carry out surveys on participation in gambling and potential gambling addiction at regular intervals. Representative surveys are intended to provide information on the prevalence of gambling participation and the extent of potential gambling disorders in the adult population. 2.
