The contractor is required to process and integrate existing client analyses and elaborations with additional data sources, expert information, and experience values, performing necessary calculations to form a coherent overall concept. The resulting geothermal expert opinion will be combined with other expert opinions by the client to finalize the transformation plan, and the contractor must participate, cooperate, and coordinate with a designated coordinating body.

The specific tasks and deliverables are summarized as follows:

• Review of existing documents: Analyzing client documents to gather essential data for subsequent planning.
• Compilation of data basis: Assembling the foundational data for the expert opinion, covering aspects such as:
• Geological situation and reservoir potential, including lesser-considered horizons within the city area.
• Subsurface development options, including reservoir and drilling technologies.
• Technical geothermal utilization concepts.
• Thermal and electrical plant capacities and efficiencies.
• Achievable heat quantities and associated operating energy requirements.
• Available electrical grid connection capacities.
• Creation of rough cost estimate:
• Estimating investment costs for the complete geothermal system, incorporating electrical grid connection costs, and categorizing them into at least seven cost groups according to DIN 276.
• Obtaining and providing guideline price offers to the client.
• Estimating operating costs and consumption quantities in line with VDI 2067.
• Establishing the basis for a cost function (EUR/MWth) by calculating costs for typical plant sizes.
• Determining required electrical connection capacities for developed variants, assessing site-specific grid connection possibilities, and estimating costs for any necessary grid infrastructure upgrades or new connections.
• Optimally considering costs for connecting large electrical consumers and integrating with the existing district heating network during site selection.
• Documentation of results: Producing a comprehensive report detailing the expert opinion, including all relevant aspects, text, tables, and graphics, along with essential data, in common data exchange formats for further processing into the final transformation plan.
