TENDER DESCRIPTION

The Federal Government has set itself the goal with the Natural Climate Protection Action Program (ANK) to significantly improve the general state of ecosystems in Germany. The ANK aims to protect the climate by strengthening natural ecosystems. Thus, the ANK links climate protection with biodiversity conservation. Often, additional synergies arise – for example, with regard to adaptation to climate change. The ANK promotes measures by which nature acts as a climate protector – i.e., where moors, forests, waters, soils or green spaces bind greenhouse gases, avoid emissions, and simultaneously improve habitats. Central goals of the ANK are therefore the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions (e.g., through rewetting of moors), strengthening of carbon storage in natural sinks, increasing the resilience of ecosystems, adaptation to climate change (e.g., water retention, cooling, flood protection), and the preservation and restoration of biological diversity. The BfN has been entrusted by the BMUKN with the implementation of the tasks of the ANK coordination office.
