TENDER DESCRIPTION

The Federal Government has set itself the goal of significantly improving the overall condition of ecosystems in Germany with the Natural Climate Protection Action Program (ANK). The ANK aims to protect the climate by strengthening natural ecosystems. Thus, the ANK combines climate protection with biodiversity conservation. Furthermore, additional synergies often arise – e.g., for adapting to climate change. The ANK promotes measures by which nature acts as a climate protector – that is, where moors, forests, bodies of water, soils, or green spaces bind greenhouse gases, avoid emissions, and simultaneously improve habitats. Central objectives of the ANK are therefore the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions (e.g., through rewetting of moors), strengthening carbon storage in natural sinks, increasing the resilience of ecosystems, adaptation to climate change (e.g., water retention, cooling, flood protection), and the preservation and restoration of biological diversity.
