TENDER DESCRIPTION
The subject of the procurement is to carry out a Low-carbon substructure methods report. The objective is to determine the atmosphere heating impact potential of foundation methods generally used in Finland in the construction of key new-building types under typical Finnish ground conditions. The results will be used to steer parties undertaking construction projects, as well as designers and implementers, towards the use of low-carbon substructure methods, and the building product industry towards new low-carbon foundation solutions. The main phases of implementation are as follows: 1. A literature review on research and development activities in Finland and internationally concerning the climate impacts of various foundation methods. 2. A description of the most commonly used foundation methods in Finland to a sufficient extent for buildings of different intended purposes. 3. Calculation of the climate impacts (carbon footprint, where applicable carbon handprint) related to the above-mentioned foundation methods and defining other conditions related to substructure construction. 4.
