TENDER DESCRIPTION
The Blockland landfill is located on the western edge of Bremen, in the immediate vicinity of the A 27 Bremen – Bremerhaven (see Figure 1). The first landfill section went into operation in 1969. Since then, the landfill has been expanded at irregular intervals. In its current development state, the Blockland landfill consists of an active landfill section of class I (approx. 3 ha), an active landfill section of class III (approx. 11 ha), and a legacy part of class 0 that is in the decommissioning phase. The total landfill area is approx. 40 ha. The landfill technical facilities include a hydraulic securing system for the legacy part of the landfill, a control field for the multifunctional sealing of the class III landfill section, and a combined heat and power plant (CHP) block for the recovery of the generated landfill gas. At the landfill site, there are several photovoltaic installations, two wind turbines, and the Blockland recycling station, which is Bremen’s largest recycling station by customer frequency and waste quantity.
