TENDER DESCRIPTION

General The Krefeld-Uerdingen Rhine Bridge forms part of the B 288, which connects the independent cities of Duisburg and Krefeld. Around 24,000 vehicles per day use the route; of this, heavy goods traffic accounts for approximately 15%. On the right bank of the Rhine, the B 288 connects east of the locality of Duisburg-Mündelheim to the A 524, which links the motorways A 59 and A 3 running in the north-south direction. On the left bank of the Rhine, the B 288 crosses the A 57 in the area of the Krefeld-Zentrum interchange. The Krefeld-Uerdingen Rhine Bridge was built as a “Zügelgurt bridge” in the years 1933 to 1936. After partial destruction in the Second World War, it was rebuilt between 1948 and 1950, and in the 1960s it was strengthened by additional structural details to Bridge class 60 in accordance with DIN 1072. With regard to the load-bearing system, this is a so-called “false” suspension bridge.
