    TENDER DESCRIPTION

    Urban intersections, merge points and property access points pose a problem for cycling traffic. About two thirds of all police-recorded cycling accidents involving personal injury and multiple parties occur there. Of these accidents, approximately 20% occur when motor vehicles involved in the accident turn right. Various studies suggest that insufficient visibility relationships play a central role in turn-related accidents. Therefore, BASt carries out the internal BASt project "Analysis of the framework conditions for necessary visibility relationships between motor vehicles turning right and cyclists proceeding straight at urban intersections". Within the scope of this internal project, above all, the infrastructural framework conditions and interfering factors are to be analysed, which significantly affect visibility and thus safety at urban intersections for the above-mentioned turning scenario.
