TENDER DESCRIPTION

The climate is changing noticeably - also in Germany, extreme weather events such as heat, heavy rainfall and flooding are increasing. The construction industry is highly vulnerable, which can lead to health risks and substantial property damage. While earlier projects such as Zukunft Bau 18.33 and 21.13 focused on climate-resilient construction in new builds, given resource and climate protection targets, the conversion and continued use of existing buildings, together with associated maintenance, modernization and refurbishment measures, is increasingly coming to the fore. EU and federal requirements, for example through the revised EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) and the new Building Modernisation Act (GModG), govern energy refurbishment - however, there is currently no obligation to adapt to climate impacts. Nevertheless, current construction measures on existing buildings offer the opportunity to take climate-impact adaptation into account with only a small additional effort, to prevent future risk of damage and to use synergies with climate protection.
