TENDER DESCRIPTION

The project concerns the restoration and enhancement of the “APOLLON” Theatre in Patras as a more recent monument, particularly connected with the historical memory of the city’s residents, and its functional reuse is carried out as an active, modern theatre stage and as a venue for concerts and the city’s music events. The “Apollon” Theatre is located in a central point in the city of Patras, at Vass. Georgiou A’ Square, and is a point of reference for the city’s cultural identity. It was built according to the designs of the German architect E. Ziller and constitutes an excellent example of 19th-century neoclassical architecture. Construction works began in 1871 and the first performance took place on 10 October 1872. It has been characterised by the Ministry of Culture as “a building requiring special protection” (FEK 326/Issue B/19.3.1975). It is the permanent home of the Municipal Regional Theatre (ΔΗ.ΠΕ.ΘΕ) and hosts concerts and various cultural events.
