ewb operates around 600 transformer substations in the supply area. The expected service life of the transformer substations is 40 years. ewb has a backlog for the refurbishment of the transformer substations. The refurbishment backlog is to be eliminated within 10 years. In order to eliminate the refurbishment backlog and to bring ewb back into the regular maintenance cycle, 20-25 transformer substations per year must be rebuilt in the coming years. In addition to the renewal of the technical equipment, the rebuilds also include building construction work for the refurbishment of the transformer substation building as well as civil engineering work for the supply line from the public area. In many cases, in the field of building construction, the refurbishment work to be carried out is only fully clear once the technical equipment/units have been dismantled. The document C11_Terminplan Trafostation contains a reference example for the scheduling of the refurbishment of a transformer substation.
