FE 02.0511/2026/IRB "Constructive noise protection at sensitive locations" Noise pollution caused by road traffic is one of the major environmental impacts in Germany. In particular, in densely built-up areas noise hotspots arise which, due to topographic conditions, tight spatial constraints, problematic ground conditions, existing infrastructure or listed heritage protection, could only be effectively protected by very high noise barriers (over 10 m) or by complete enclosures—solutions that are often not feasible there. The aim of the project is the development of variable noise protection structures that can be adapted to different noise impact areas for deployment sites where standard structures (noise barriers, partial covers, enclosures) are not possible. The structures must meet the technical requirements according to ZTV ING (structural stability, durability, traffic safety) and achieve a reduction in noise immission levels of at least 3 dB(A), aiming for 5 dB(A) or more—without having to comply fully with the requirements for sound insulation.
