TENDER DESCRIPTION

The Matthias-Claudius-School (MCS) in the Kaarst district is a primary school with mixed grade levels. It is run inclusively and in open all-day education (OGS) as a two-stream school with 9 classes. Currently, 225 pupils attend the primary school. The school was put into operation in 1964 and the gymnasium was built two years later. In 2000, an extension with OGS premises was built on the eastern side of the school building. The school building and gymnasium components from the 1960s are in an age-appropriate condition. The building fabric, including most window and façade surfaces, dates from the years of construction. Façades show, in part, considerable damage and are outdated in terms of building physics. In addition, factors such as the lack of barrier-free accessibility, outdated fire protection, and construction that is not suitable for children—such as missing stair handrails—contribute problems with room climate and acoustics, as well as energy waste due to missing insulation and outdated building services.
