Service description Survey on participation in gambling and potential gambling addiction 1. Research subject One of the five equal-ranking objectives of the Gambling Regulatory Treaty is to prevent the emergence of gambling addiction and betting addiction and to create the conditions for effective addiction prevention and treatment (§ 1 GlüStV 2021). The measures under the treaty are intended to prevent an increase and, in the long term, further reduce the number of problem gamblers and pathological gamblers. In order to be able to measure the achievement of the requirements of the Gambling Regulatory Treaty on an ongoing basis, it is necessary to carry out surveys on participation in gambling and potential gambling addiction at regular intervals. Representative surveys should provide information on the prevalence of gambling participation and the extent of potential gambling disorders in the adult population. 2.
